Chin Chin

I have been looking at pictures and in the mirror lately.  Wow. I sure look old.  I don't want to look like I am 50.  Wel, I am 52.  My hands look old and like my mothers or grandmothers hands.

So today while waiting to pick Nick up, I took some pics.  Look at that Jowel. My friend Lynne works near Sonobello a plastic surgery place.  I asked her when she's going in to ask about what to do about looking so old for me.  She suggested I do the exercises my Grandma Stella suggested.

Wow I think I look better already.  NOT!  I did lose 5 lbs however

More Exercise

I have been trying to get more exercise into my life.  My classroom is upstairs and I need to make sure I can walk up the stairs without getting winded...

I have been going to the gym when I can after I drop Nick off at LAX.  I'm suppose to go to Yoga but I seem to miss it every week because I have to drive someone somewhere like LAX game and Gma can't do it because it's far away, raining, or dark.

These two guys are in front of me like all the time on Saturday.  They kindof have stupid socks on so I wonder if they are gay...

I have only about 3 different Planet Shirts.  Orange, Gray and Purple.  I'm sure someone is making fun of me because I just rotate them.

I want these.  well,  I haven't tried them on yet but they look cool.
Well as much as I know about being cool.

This is Nick who went with me a few times.  He likes to be far away from me.

I wish I could say that I have lost weight.  Nope  However, I think I am better off for going any time.  Just think how fat I could be if I didn't go.  And I feel stupid because so many people are fit, but like Melanie says 'would you rather see me at the gym or at a buffet?'.  Good advice for all of us.

Here's to this week of more Planet since its spring break.

Nick's new Job

Nick got a job at Lagoon.  Today was his first day.  This is the best pic that I could get.  He isn't very cooperative on the picture front.  I think he was kindof excited.

When I picked him up, he was super tired, back hurt and so did his knees.  hmm  He will get more stamina.

I went to the gym way early this am.  I couldn't sleep and had to make sure I was back home to get nic to Lagoon  I got home with 3 hours to spare.  I did only do 20 min on the elliptical because I was so tired.  However, I went back after I dropped Nick off and did 15 minutes more.  I did see a few potential husbands later in the day.

I can't remember why I took this pic.  Maybe it would look good on a online dating profile pic.

Or this one.  But I don't like this one

                                                                   Or these pics?

Or this one?  I think I still need to look for some.  Not liking this one either.

Geneology moment - Elpha

So, wanted to write about this Geneology moment.  Certainly random.  I was chatting with my mother.  She had some Book of Rememberance books out.  They are really old books that we use to make with group sheets and people's histories in them.   Now we put all that stuff on Ancestry.org or family search.com. I have a cousin (well, cousin's daughter) Julie Carling who is getting into geneology.  She has been interested in my Gma's sister, Elpha.  Julie's Gpa is my mother's Brother.  Uncle bob.  My mom was telling her about Elpha. No one really knew much about Elpha.  My mother was in college at BYU when her mom, Stella, came to visit and said they were going to the State Mental Hospital and visit Gma's sister, Elpha.  My mother had NO idea Elpha even existed.

My mom said she died that same year.  She was born in 1905.  Julie wanted to know more about her.  She wrote to the Utah State Hospital and they sent her a bunch of stuff.  Some of the stuff they sent said that Elpha was there because she had Measles and Infantile Paralysis.  My mom remembers she had a really big head when she visited her.  Really sad actually.

My mother was telling me tonight why those books were out.  Julie was asking about Elpha and so marlena was reading her mother's life story.  She said she remembered playing with her brother and two sisters.  Elpha was fine until about age 12.  It cost 50.00 a month to keep Elpha at the State hospital and the bill was signed every time H.S. Cahoon.   Hyrum Styles Cahoon.  That was my Grandma's dad.  Think about 50.00 a month over 100 years ago. That was a lot of money.  They were farmers from Delta and didn't have much.

But to make the story even more sad, my mom said that one of the bills or statements to the State Hospital said that they would have trouble making the 50.00 payment (or it would be late) because their daughter and three children just came to live with them.  That daughter was MY Grandma Stella and the three kids were My mother, Uncle Bob (Julie's Gpa) and Uncle Dale.  The reason they came to live with them was her husband drove them to Deseret (a subdivision outside of Delta) and left.
I'm sure that was scandalous too.  People didn't get divorced back in those days.  She had to live with her parents she had no way to make a living.

My mother started crying when she told me this story.  Wow.  She said she had NO idea it was a hardship them living with them.  She lived with them 4 years until my Gma got married to my Gpa Fon.  The boys finished high school and helped with farming and stayed living with their gma and gpa.

Wow.  My mother had No idea, and she is 84 years old.  What a compliment to them.  Take them in and my mother said my Gpa was so kind.  She told me that years ago he was kind to them.  You know, NO one knows what families go through.  Or really what people are living right now.

I just keep thinking about the times this occurred.  Imagine having a child that was mentally impaired (not sure what the diagnosis was but she was in the mental hospital)  and that they needed to be secretive about it.  THEN your other daughter's husband leaves her and their children so she has to move home.  That must have been very socially unacceptable too.  I really admired my Gma Stella.  She was a worker and has worked her whole life.  She worked at the D. Stevens which was a store in Delta.  Then she took tickets at the movie house after that job in the evenings.   And imagine the financial hardship for Grandpa Hyrum.

Church Ball

Nick's team made it to region.  They only got one game and lost.  The started with 4 and finally Xavier came.  He didn't want to play but they needed 5 guys.  Nick got a foul...here he is at the foul line

Brooke Spring Break

Jimbob came home to visit for Spring Break.  I was so excited to see her. I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving.  She got in at 1:20 am on Saturday.  She's waiting for her baggage.  Her plane was delayed, and the baggage was late.  We got home around 3:00 am.

Then we were up bright and early for the Planet. I don't have a pic of the actual planet.  We dropped Nick off at Lacross Game Film to we decided to planetize while he was there.

Grandma and I were going to this play and Lunch. I thought Jim was coming on Sunday but it was Saturday am instead.  So, Brooke went to lunch with us at Zupas.  We also went to Costco and got some chocolate covered raspberries and these lemon almonds someone suggested.  They were fab.  I also had to introduce Brooke to the Acai Bowls at Costco.  Hold the Blue berries.  The best.

Monday I left work early to take Brooke to the Facial lady, TerraLynne.  She is my favorite.  Brooke can't go alone she said.  So, I got to chill in the quiet while she facialized.  We were suppose to go to the dentist but Mark called on our way over and he was sick...so we went to Old Navy instead and got some jeans for her.

Jim also had a Dr. appt with the Neurologist for her seizures and her medication refill.  She couldn't go to that alone so I went with her too.  I took the day off and then we ended up going to the Dentist after.

She thinks she is the dentist and looks at the computer information...

We did end up at Cafe Rio after.  Then we went to Crumbl because she needed a cookie for someone at the Zoo...So we got the party box of 12 cookies.  25.00 worth of cookies!  The peanut butter one is better.

We also decorated these cookies I got at Christmas time at Trader Joe's.  Ugly Sweater cookies.  They turned out cute.

This is the one that I did.  I think I have a future in frosting

We also got a Lacross game in with Nick.  Nick got nailed pretty good so Brooke was on tending duty for Nick when he had to stayed home.
.

THEN...Thursday night, I picked up Andrew at the Airport too  11:30 pm from the shuttle.  AND Friday Brooke and Andrew went to the Zoo.  For some reason, Brooke likes to hang out at the zoo when she is here...

Then after the zoo, I met Andrew and Brooke at the car dealership and Andrew bought this car.  He '

This is Nick walking into Walmart in his new Lacrosse sweatshirt.  He thinks he is pretty cool...

So, as I read the above, this is the dumbest post ever.  I tried to include all the stuff we did, and it sounds so blah.  Anyway, it was a great time seeing Brooke.  I am glad she is doing what she wants and is brave enough to move to Florida and go to Animal Husbandry school.  I have missed her so much.  She is funny and beautiful and makes life better just being around.  She was off as fast as she got here.  I dropped her off at the curb and that was it.  She is back at school cleaning up S#@#.    Here's to a few more semesters for the zoo keeper.

Andrew's New Car

Andrew decided to come home from SUU on Thursday night to look at a car on Friday. Brooke was also here from Florida.  I picked him up at 11:30 at night at the Airport where he got dropped off from the Cedar City Shuttle.  He loves taking the shuttle from Cedar City.

Andrew and Brooke went to look at the car and really liked it.  They called me to look at it after school.  In the mean time, they went to the zoo.  Funny, Brooke likes to hang at the zoo when she is here for a visit...

They picked me up after school to check out the car.  I thought it was a great car.  He decided to buy it.  He went in the office to do the financing...came out and asked about if he should buy a warranty for 2500.00.  No.  Too much money.  He was in there a long time getting the financing figured out.  He even was preapproved at America First.  After like 45 more minutes he came out and asked if He should do the warranty for 11.00 a month.   They got him better financing than Am First and with his good credit they offered the warranty for 800.00.

FINALLY, he was finished and had the keys.  He is his very own car owner.

A new car looks good on him.

I needed a new phone so we headed to Wal Mart.

Here's Nick in his new Lacrosse sweatshirt on our way to the phone center.  I left with my exact phone but a new version.

Nick only came with us because we had good odds of going to Cafe Rio after our Car purchase.

He was right.  We celebrated at the cafe rio.  I didn't get any pics.  But it looked like every other pic of Cafe Rio.  My favorite place to eat with my favorite people.
