Bank of America Golf Tournament - Part 2

 Friday we headed over at the same time.  I have hurt my knee so I have this brace on it.  I was a bit worried I couldn't walk but this brace helped.  Started out with breakfast and a shuttle to the 18th hole.  We are professionals now so we know where to go.  

Leaderboard that was on our hole.  It was fun to watch the board change.  I thought everyone had one on their hole.  Nope, we did because I think we were the last hole.

This is Max Homa.  He is one of the more prominant PGA players that showed up for the tournament.  He is also one of Mark's favorite players.  

Tony Finau was also a prominant player.  He is from Rose Park, just down the street from my house.  He hit a drive on our hole, that went ot into the lava rocks, then bounced back in the fairway.  THEN his second shot, we heard this loud noise from the gallery.  He hit is second shot and hit the roof of the gallery right behind us and bounced somewhere behind it.  This photo is the relief he got from his wild shot.  I was that close to him.  He was deciding what to do.  He did have a really great line to the green from there.

He ended up taking two putts.  I thought for sure he would have a double bogie or more.  Nope he took a par.  He didn't make the cut or Saturday play however.  He finished -2 and you needed -5 to stay for the weekend.

If you look closely, you can see a ball stuc in or chair thing.  Sandra and I took our stuff and moved out of the way and let the Rules official decide the call.  It was just a drop a club length away.

We ended up going to Culver's on or way home and then we went to the hot tub to rest or aching bones.  We are old.  Great day.  

Golf Tournament part 3 and a Marathon

Saturday at the Golf Tournament started with Andrew running the St. George half Marathon.  Mark sent me the app so I could follow him. I wanted to meet him at the finish, but we had to be over to the golf tournament before the finish.  I followed him and Sandra told me he had a great pace. One time he was a but longer and she said he must be going up hill.  

I also followed Hayden and Ty Miller since Mark told me about the app.  

This is Andrew's time.  He did such a great job.  He ran with his friend TRex.  I couldn't follow him because I didn't know his name.  They both did great.  I can't imagine running 13 miles.  Andrew said he felt ok, but hurt from the waist down.  

Back to the Tournament for Saturday.  I got the same great spot probably because my knee hurt so bad.  

Watched Max again.  He made the cut so he came around again today.

Saturday was our last day to volunteer.  We didn't go on Sunday for the finish.  I think 3 days was enough to volunteer.  We got some great Swag.  A polo, Jacket, and a hat.  I also bought two other jackets from last year and a polo.  They were super discounted.  It was fun to be so close to the action and watch the players come and play the 18th hole.  It was great!  Loved it.

Bank of America Golf Tournament Part 1

 Spent the weekend in St. George at the Bank of America Golf Tournament at Black Desert Resort.  It is a new course and very difficult

We signed up to Volunteer.  Sandra and I were assigned to the 18th hole.  Kim and Victoria was assiged to hole 17 where our friend Ted was a hole captain.  Not sure why Sandra and I got shifted to hole 18.  

We rented a van, and Sandra, Kim, Victoria and I rode together.  Here's our Maverick stop in Fillmore.  Of course we have to stop there.  

We stayed at our usual Air B&B place.  We headed over to the course bright and early at 7:00 am.  We got breakfast every morning and we looked for our name on the banners they had around the volunteer tent in Parking lot 7.  The first tee times were around 7:35 am but they wouldn't be to our hole until about 9:30 am.  Tee times were off the #1 and #10 tee.  

We shuttled to our hole and we got or assignment.  We were Gallery Marshalls. Which meant we held up Quiet Please signs when the players were putting.  

We  were able to bring a chair. 

Looking up the 18th hole.  We couldn't even see the tee box.  We couldn't see the players until they were taking their second shot.  It was a LONG par 5.

First snow - Jack's email from Alaska

What up everyone this week was pretty good for the most part we had a lot of meetings but thats alright that'll happen. I have more time to write an email today so ill give a more detailed email ig lol. 

Monday: we flew to anchorage for mlc, we got to go to south anchorage for pday which was my old zone so it was cool. Saw my boy elder Wilhelm missed that guy a ton.

Tuesday: long ahh mlc fr. Best part was president saying 67 and dabbing in front of everyone. It was a chill meeting tho nothing crazy. 7 hours tho can get tiring fosho. We flew home that night to fairbanks which was pretty cool too.

Wednesday: we had 3 district councils today which was awesome. We basically just relayed all the info from mlc to the zone which everyone always doesn't understand the rule or anything but we ball fr. 

Thursday: we are ysa we go to the college and setup a table and try to get people to come up to us and talk. It is way more effective then you would think. We had a ton of success. I was also on an exchange with this one elder who's cool too. 

Friday: we went back to the college for finding and got bashed. I was hecka sick tho so I just let my comp take everything. We went and weekly planned and had a couple lessons.

Saturday: general conference which was awesome. Its legit like the super bowl for missionaries it feels like. It was cool seeing the messages and the focus on jesus christ too.

Sunday: more general conference today, it was cool to hear from president oaks about how we get truth and about false doctrine too. We had a lesson with this member who wants to go on a mission. Pretty cool day. 

Spiritual thought: so general conference this time was so different, I really took time to pay attention to these messages and without a doubt I know that these men are called of God to lead us in our day and age. I know that for a fact and everyone can argue about stuff but I know that they are true prophets with the authority from God to lead us today!

Anudder week - Jack's email from Alasksa

Whats up everyone, another week down which is super chill. We had a cool week full of more miracles, we have found 15 new people in the last 2 weeks which has been nuts to say the least. My companion is an interesting one fosho. Bro is very loud and has to comment on everything which tends to get on my nerves but thats okay. Patience am I right?! Anyways though, we went tracting for a lil bit which is the first time I've done that in awhile. We talk to this guy named gage who was cool, bro like bashed the crap out of us and basically said we were like satan and going to hell. In like the nicest way possible. Its okay though because we won the bash cuz like we dont take Ls when we got the truth so yk im saying. 

Anyways we had stake conference this week which was chill. Also interviews with President were super rad. Gave a training at zone conference where I just made fun of other missionaries which was funny for other missionaries. 

Also, taught a dude while he was getting tatted up which was hilarious. Bro was trying to give us tattoos which was so funny. First time on my mission I've experienced that lol.

It was the monthly Zoom meeting, This is our Joy - Alaska Anchorage MIssion.  We get to login on Sunday and be part of the mission for a bit and missionaries submit their Joys. This was Jack's Submission this week.  

Pioneer Theater Company and more

 I took Marlena to the Pioneer Theater Company and we saw John Proctor is the Villain.  We had to go to Westminster College because the theater had a flood.  Guess all the other theaters on campas were full.  We found the new theater on our first try.  

We will probably never have to find it again.  

The show was good. It had something to do with the Crucible which I never read so maybe I missed the point.  It had some funny points but it was too long as usual.  I think all plays should be about 15 minutes shorter.  

I am going to St. George to volunteer for a golf tournament.  More on that later, but I got my chair so we can sit on the sidelines before we have to tell everyone to shhhhh.

 I saw this posted.  Tony Finau will be at the tournament so we will have to look for him and his wife and family that follow him to every tournament.  She will for sure be doing social media. :)

This is one of my favorite statements. I will just leave it here.

Got my hair done for the tournament bright and early on Saturday because I golfed at Davis.  One of my favorite golf courses.  I messed it up at golf which was disappointing.  For that price it should look good for a few weeks or at least as long as Grandmas hair stays in.
