Painting project

Brooke is moving into Ty's dad's duplex.  They have been fixing it up and she decided to paint the cabinets.  We decided to help her.  I love a good painting project.  I have taken a few days off work to help her.

This is the best before pic I have of the cabinets.  We didn't paint those yet, but the cupboards we did paint look just like that.  We had to sand the gloss finish off first.  Well just rough it up so the paint will stick.

The bottom cupboards were painted at one time.  We just needed to sand them too and clean them.  Paint doesn't stick to smooth surfaces.

Brooke has become quite the drill expert being in Zoo School after all.  I love a good drill project.

This is the hardware we need to replace.

This is the inside of the drawers.  Not sure if we are painting them or not.

These are the cupboards after we took the doors off.  They look better in the picture than in person.

We roped Andrew to help us over his Christmas break.  We had to prime with two coats, and then paint with two coats.  It takes a while to paint, then let them dry and then run to maverick to get a drink refill then paint again.

Brooke and I both ended up wearing these at the duplex. You would never know we were related.

Sushi and Chicken on the bone

Brooke cleaned up our Christmas decorations and got them all put away. She forgot to put these animals that were in our nativity scene away.  Of course we needed cheetas and snakes in our nativity.

We got excited at the Home depot because they are now carrying Carhartt merchandise.  So now we can get some paint and a shirt in the same trip.

Brooke and I decided to get some sushi for dinner from Lee's. It was fantastic.

Jack wanted Chicken on the bone from Lee's.  you get 8 pieces of chicken for 8.99.  What a great deal if you like chicken on the bone.  I just don't think of eating at Lee's deli.

Brooke got these cookies delivered from Ty who is quarantined with Corona virus because his sister Jesse got it from Wrestling.  He has to quarantine for 10 days since she's positive.

I love this quote.  It kindof sums up my life.

A Golf Scoop

I bought this scoop,  that is used to get your golf ball out of the water hazard, for a Christmas present that I didn't end up giving.  So Brooke and I were taking it back.  But before that, Brooke decided to check it out.  It seems to be very handy if you need to retrieve something high up or for getting Nick out of bed for the gym.  Just ask Andrew.  I'll try to post the video of a shovel Andrew used, but this scoop would be easier because you wouldn't need to be as close to Nick to get him out of bed.

Random

We have reached our out of pocket maximum on our health insurance.  Imagine with my surgery and Nick's Brain Injury that our bills are that high. So, we were getting everything done we could.  I decided to get my toe that has been bothering me fixed.  I got my ingrown toenail fixed.  It kind of hurt and doesn't look that great.  But we love the good looking Dr. Tight pants as Michelle calls him.  So it was worth it.

Clearance after Christmas I found this denim jacket at the Target.  It matches Abi.  I also found one for Brooke.  So now all three of us are matching in or new Joat...(Jeans coat...Joat)

Jack needed to do a make up foods lab because he missed school due to his covid scare.  (he has had three scares)  He wanted to make wings.  We decided to just use chicken breast and not wings.

They actually turned out pretty well. He made them a few times they were so good.

Christmas

Christmas this year was different and a lot the same.  I have found that I don't stay up late, but just get up in the morning to get presents out.  Everyone sleeps in so long that I can just do it in the am.

Here are the Christmas stockings.  I have lost one since then, so get we will have some new ones for next year.  Socks are the worst part for me with all the HUD to buy.  But we all got our favorite chips, tooth brush (well, Ty didn't because Abi needed a new one on Christmas eve and I forgot and gave her another one in her stocking...Next year Ty you can get two...), some candy.

Jack and Nick got some LAX balls

Nick is trying to figure out what is cool about that pringles can...I made a secret compartment in the bottom of the can so I could hide some money for him.  It took him a minute or two to figure it out...:)  I was pretty proud of that.  I made it myself

We were so sad that our usual Chinese place closed down this year.  But we found another one.  China Star in Bountiful.  We just had to call ahead about 30 minutes.

It was absolutely great. Good food, and no cooking.  I didn't even have to go pick it up.  We also got a maverick drink to wash it down.  It is really the best tradition for Christmas.

I don't know where andrew was in this pic...

Christmas was actually really great in spite of Covid.  We stayed home, except for our take out.  Brooke and Abi and Andrew got me a NEW phone for Christmas.  It is an HR (I think) and it is absolutely the best.  I have needed a new phone that works.  It is the best!  Love them for thinking of me.

Corrections

Ty has been going to school to be a Corrections Officer.  He graduated!  He is a real live Corrections Officer and working at the State Prison (I think) in Bluffdale.

We had to celebrate him with the graduation pictures on the wall and it isn't really easy to find Graduation HUD in December but I did manage to find some at Dollar Tree.  Who would have thought..

Great Job!  We are so proud of you!!

Christmas Eve and such

The day before Christmas Eve I decided I needed to get wrapping and Christmas figured out.  I got some strength from my Taco salad from Del Taco and a Maverick drink.

We shopped at Lee's for groceries for Christmas and other stuff...

Christmas eve we decided to make some gingerbread houses.  It was a pretty good hit and we only had one kit left that we didn't make.  Jack and Nick even stayed sort of interested for a bit.

Brooke and I sent Abi some of these jammies in her Thanksgiving box.  What fun is Christmas Jammies if you don't get to wear them all of December. So We sent some to Abi (since she missed Thanksgiving with us) and Brooke got some too because she loved them with Zoo Animals and Santa hats. . .

We took a Christmas Eve drive to look at Lights and ended up at maverick before our trip.  Of course we needed a drink...
