Andrew returns to Alabama

Andrew has been here for a week or two.  He came for David, stayed for Thanksgiving and then just left yesterday.  I miss him already.  We had a great time.  We played golf 3 times.  He is always so willing to play with his dumb old mom.

He is up for a snack after golf

He could get rid of the jersey look

My car didn't start the day he was leaving and he was so helpful to help me scrape off the old jumker car that Nick was driving and helped me get to school.  He moves my heavy stuff, and cleans up the kitchen and all other areas because I'm not as good as I should at keeping house.  He LOVES to get rid of HUD and takes stuff to the dump for me.

He takes care of the Grandma.  He put up her Christmas lights, gets the heavy groceries out of the car for her, and anything else she needs him to do.

He is back in Alabama with his bud, T Rex.

I'm missing him

Thanksgiving 2022

After the Thanksgiving golf, we headed to grandma's house.  Delicious turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, (thanks to me), rolls, cheese balls, mexi dip, stuffing, yams, and others.  It was super great.

We played Thanksgiving Bingo.  Here's Jack showing us how to make a snowflake decoration he learned how to make in math class.

At least he listened for that part of the lesson.  He said he did that because he was caught up in his regular work...really?

Michelle is so good for the party favors.

Brooke sporting her swagg

Here's the Bingo.  Mitchell is the caller since Grandpa died and Mark didn't come.  He did a great job.  Grandma probably doesn't think so.  You had to listen super fast.

That's my markers and card.

My favorite part about Thanksgiving (well besides the golf) was talking to Nick.  He called while we were playing Bingo and wanted to know if we were having the Leaf Hunt.  haha  I guess all our parties are the same.  We did have on thanksgiving hats that looked like leaves...

Another thanksgiving in the books.  We all left full and tired.  That's a win.

Thanksgiving Golf Scramble

Started out the Thanksgiving at the Planet with Andrew. No pics of him, because he was probably talking or on the phone.  I'm killing it right up along with the guy behind me running.

This is Brooke at the planet on Thanksgiving.  Her Planet is nicer.

After the Planet, we headed to the Golf Course to participate in the Thanksgiving Golf Scramble.  It was a shotgun start and we started on Hole 7.  It was cold but seriously not bad.  Here's Andrew showing us how to Tee Off

My other friend that is getting ready to play

My friend Sandra who played with us

We had a great time.  The course said we had to be finished by 1:00 so they could get the carts put away so they could go home.  We finished 8 holes.  So we didn't get to play hole 6.

Such a fun way to start the day.  Next year I think the whole family needs to play.  I like that it had a time limit. We were suppose to be in a drawing for prizes.  Guess we didn't win.  :)

You really see everyone's swag playing golf in the winter. Golf cart covers and saw this heater on the golf cart seat.  Gotta get me a heater and a cover for next time.

Planeting and hanging with Andrew

I love to go to the Planet Fitness (well...mostly)  I don't go that much due to every excuse I have like tired, fat, going somewhere else, knee hurts, tired, working.  But had time to go on Wednesday before thanksgiving.  Ya it felt great until I saw a lady that i know from teaching.  UGH.  Can't the teachers just go another time?

Andrew likes to go to the Planet when he visits.  Mostly because he can get in with my on my membership.  So the price is right.  He saw his friend's dad, Brian, and he said that he saw me at the Planet all the time.  Yes he does.  ALL the time.

We went to Einsteins after and the wait was over 35 minutes for food so we just got a bagel to go.  hashbrown that we wanted to try in St. George and didn't. We gave it a thumbs up.

We then had to go and get our Thanksgiving pies at the Costco and not sure what we did after that.

But I Love catting with Andrew to the gym.

56 years old

I had a birthday on November 22.   I am 56 years old, yes thats right.  For my birthday I wanted to go and Golf.  I snuck away from school early and Andrew and I headed to play some golf at the West Bountiful Golf course.

This is us in the golf cart.  We were really practicing up for our golf scramble on Thanksgiving day.  We had a great time. It was beautiful weather and I kicked his butt at the golf.  We stayed out of the water, only hit a few sand traps and missed a few putts.

Then we got home and decided to go to the birthday dinner at the Golden Ginger Sushi place in Layton.  It is one of my favorite places to get sushi.

It looks a bit sketchy but it is really the best.  And it was an old maverick that automatically means it is fabulous.

Anyway, the food was excellent and the company even better.  We were thinking of ordering there for our Christmas Day Chinese dinner fest.

Birthdays are not my favorite thing, but I got lots of text and calls and comments on social Media.  It makes me feel so loved by my favorite people.

Thanksgiving!! Week 16

What up yall! Elder Clemons coming back at ya with another email. This week was cool because we actually had two p days this week and we put two people on date to be baptized!!

The first person we put on date is named Ivan. Ivan is super nice and actually wants to be baptized on Christmas eve. We taught him about the plan of salvation and salvation and then invited him to be baptized and he said yes!!

The second person is the kid of this inactive member family and he is super excited to baptized. His name is Sean and he can't wait to be baptized.

Thanksgiving was a an all day p day so we played in the turkey bowl and I had the greatest turkey bowl of my pro career. Had 3 sacks and 2 tds. get me to the league!! After that we went to a bunch of members houses. At one of them I was roasted for a good chunk of it. Then they just cha5nged my name completely. Then that same I received multiple texts from members calling me elder clemmy. Apparently the lady had told the entire ward that my name was elder clemmy.

I also got a new comp this week and he's super chill. His name is elder lay and he's from Washington.

I also can drive this transfer and they made me the dd which means I just drive everywhere. It's kind of fun to be driving again but the things they put in the cars to make sure we aren't speeding are really annoying.

Sunday was kind of an L because we had 7 of pur Friends coming but Sunday morning we woke up and all 7 of them had an excuse of not coming. My comp was super mad about that but in the end it's there agency and I did all I could.

Well that's all that really happened this week. Hope yall had a great Thanksgiving. Feel free to reach out. I would love to here from some of you!! Hope all of yall have a great week and I love you guys lots!!!

David Archuletta In St. George

About a year ago, Brooke, Andrew and I got David Archuletta Tickets in St. George at Tuacahan.

We didn't know Andrew as going to move before then.  But we convinced him to come back for the concert and stay for Thanksgiving.  We headed to St. George on Saturday morning.  We picked up Brooke, stopped at every Maverick we could see on the way to either eat, get a drink, go to the bathroom or all of the above.

We shopped at the Costco, and ate dinner at Durangos.  That is where Brody's parents like to eat.  So we tried it and liked it.  At least I did.  We headed for Tuacahan.

We had great seats.  Andrew didn't want to sit by me so he made me move over to the side so he could it by Brooke.  It was super cold and we had on Thermal underwear, layers, hats, coats, two blankets and gloves.  Who would have thought it got cold in St. George.  Last time I was at Tuacahan I was so hot I thought I would die.  (I obviously lived)  I like it in the chilly air.  It is different and fun and festive.

He did a great concert.  It was full but not sold out.  He sang some familiar tunes and some that we didn't know.  It was really great.  He didn't have a band, it was just him singing to music on a cassette tape.  He thanked 4 people for helping him with the set.  He sang for like 2 full hours.

We headed back to the hotel and Brooke modeled this velour thing.  She got it from Abi. Can you imagine Abi was getting rid of this ? One can't have enough velour.

We had to all share the bed for a minute and facetime Abi.  She was telling us she even wore that velour thing to the store.  Lovely.

Wonton got to stay with his other grandma while we were gone.  Glad She would tend him.  Ty must have had to work.

On the way home we stopped at the Gas Station in Beaver and got a pic on the chair.  We usually stop at mavericks but changed it up and stopped for a pic with the chair.

Great, fast trip.  Glad Andrew could come from Alabama to go with us.

And Thanks to Grandma for volunteering to tend Jack, although I know he really stayed home.

Week 15

What's up yall! Hope you guys weeks were great. Transfers are tomorrow and I finish my training today which means my companion is getting transferred tomorrow. It's gonna be kind of scary leading out the area but I think I'm ready for it. This week we had lots of service and we taught a lot of lesson where people didn't want the book of mormon but that's OK!

Monday: we had a supergood lesson with a recent convert named pedro. He is really starting to recognize that alcohol is bad and that through God he was able to quit it which is so cool. Pedro is a really cool guy and is one of the first people I ever gave a blessing too so it's always nice to see that blessing pay off.

Tuesday: we had our last district council of the transfer and it was really sad because we had to say goodbye to our good friend d elder Benjamin because he has completed his missionary service. Benji is one of my biggest influences when I did come out and he was the first person I went on exchanges with. He's taught me so much and I know he's gonna do great things. A few of us even cried during his testimony.

Wednesday: we had exchanges and started off with two massive service projects. Both of them were just moving people out but both people just weren't prepared and it took forever to move them. Later that day we got some panda which I haven't had in forever and it was so good. Another thing also cool that night was I led out book of mormon study which was kinda fun. I'm not very smart when it comes to scriptures but I was able to answer most of the questions.

Thursday: we were able to teach our friend Diego and he loves the scriptures!! He told us that he would talk to his wife about coming to church on Sunday which is so hypeee.

Friday: was kind of a weird day. We were teaching this family and the lesson was going good and all of a sudden the husband walks into the room and starts yelling at us in Spanish and accusing us of stealing from him. We calmly explained to him that we were missionaries and he told us to leave and his wife told us to come back with sister missionaries and he would be alright. So there's a free baptism for the sisters I guess haha.

Saturday: we ate dinner with our friends Mike and patty and then watched this super cool conversion story of this guy from Chicago. After that we went and played basketball with a bunch of investigators and I hit the game winning shot so guess I'm doing something good out here haha.

Sunday: I taught this super nice women over the phone. The lesson was super long because everytime I made a point she would talk for 5 minutes about the holy ghost. It was a good lesson overall and she's an investigator now.

That's really all that happened this week. We get an allday p day for Thanksgiving which is kind of lit so feel free to email me on Thursday if you want. Hope yall have a great Thanksgiving and I'm grateful for the gospel and all my great friends!!!

I am grateful for my dog

Nick posts this on his Facebook.  It isn't even his dog.  So funny

Brooke and Ty went to Arizona to watch Elton John's farewell tour.  Farewell tours seem to be in Ty's forecase this year.  He is on the farewell tour of the mcRib.  Just a few weeks left of that one.

And Andrew's favorite thing is at the Costco now.  Having trouble finding this turkey. Now that he is moved I can find it.  Isn't that how it is.

Study Up your elements so that next time we can blow something up - Email from Nick

This week we also tried to move our friend Wendy so that she can get baptized but every time we make plans she cancels. She was supposed to move out three times just this last week and at this point we're ready to rent the uhaul truck ourselves haha.

Another great thing that happened this week was on Sunday night we put our friend kamaila on darefvate to be baptized. We even did the lesson right next to the font and it was super spiritual. Kamaila Is super hype and she actually understands that even though she might not always feel the spirit she know that baptism is still the right thing to do!!!

Thursday we met with our friend John Burr and right as we got there he asked us if we had ever seen a bald eagle up close. We said no and he told us to wait by the garage. So he opens the garage and man's just got a bald eagle in his garage sitting in like a big dog cage. It was kinda sketchy until we found out that he works with the zoo and rescues eagles who have been injured.

Finally Saturday rolled around and we met with our friend Mike and patty. They are both ready for Baptism they just need to be married but they told us they wouldn't get married. We've been slowly trying to tell them the blessings of eternal marriage. During our lesson they did ask a lot of questions about the temple and we watched some of the temple tours on YouTube. After the first one Mike told us "Mormons got so much money they just throwing random things in temples and say it's holy" it was kind of funny but then we explained every thing in the temple and he seemed pretty Interested. So hopefully we see some progress with them before Mike's health gets super bad with the cancer.

That's really all that happened this week. It was a very successful week even though we didn't hit our finding goal. Hope yall are doing well and staying warm! Feel free to reach out. I would love to hear from yall!!
