Father's Day

Father's day started out in church singing In Our Lovely Deseret.  I love that Hymn, maybe its a song. My Grandma was from Deseret and my mother lived in Deseret.  It is a suburb of Delta.  Singing this Hymn reminds me of my Grandma Stella and all the good times we had with her.  Love it.  I got to lead the singing and everyone sang so loud.

Then since it was Father's day, we headed to Davis Park Golf course for some Fathers day Golf.  Andrew, Lili, Nick and me.

It was hot, but super fun.  We played pretty good golf.

I have my new Golf outfit on

Ton even had a good Fathers day by riding in the front seat

Awe my Brooke-e posted this about her mama

AND I got a Father's day gift.  A Vacuum!  I LOVE it.  I have put it together and used it.  It is fabulous.  I love that my children think of me for Fathers Day because I am the mother and father of the family.  Love that!  (I'm actually sorry that it turned out that way, but it did)

Here's the vacuum in action.  It is great!  I have only had ONE vacuum that I have liked and someone vacuumed up milk and cereal with it.  So it took care of that one.  I'm excited to vacum the whole house.  :)

Been going to the Hotworx

I have been going to the Hotworx regularly since summer started.  I don't really have an excuse.

I like the resting part the best.  I book the session after my session so I can rest and settle my mind

I saw McCalls sheet for the competition this month. She needs to get on it more...I didn't even fill one out this month since I do the same classes.  Maybe for July I'll get on it and then I can enter the drawing.

McCall talked me into going with her.  I look like my Grandma Stella.  I shouldn't even be let out of the house.

I am on the leaderboard

These are my favorite classes to go to in the morning.  I don't always make it to Hot blast..

First exchange ?!? - Jacks Email from Alaska

Hello everyone! Finished another week of missionary life and it has been good! This week has been a full of a lot of ups and some downs as well but that is what happens with missionary life.

Tuesday 6/17: First p day in the mission field. Today was actually super fun we went to this playground and one of the bishops house and it sounds dumb but it was so so fun and we played a ton if games while we were there. While we were there we were playing this golf game and out of no where 2 Moose just pull up outta nowhere so I was just chilling by a Moose for about 30 minutes.

Wednesday 6/18: Today we did a ton of stop by's and as we were doing them we ran into somebody named Justin. Justin used to be a member and had some questions about our religion and how everything works based off of what be read about the Bible. So we said we would stop by again and answer whatever questions he had for us. So wish us luck as we go back to him this week.

Thursday 6/19: Today we got a call from a missionary who had served here about 3 years ago. He told us about someone he taught when he was here and so we went over to that person house and his name was Bobby and Bobby is super nice and loves the Bible but we found out he has had a past with drugs and some experiences with members in our ward. So we are going to do our best to turn his life around. So prayers up.

Friday 6/20: today I went on my first exchange to fairbanks and it was so fun. I had asked Elder Collins if he was good at solving rubix cubes cause he had one sitting on his desk. He then walked me through how to solve one and made me do a rubix cube for about the next 6 hours and I am still confused about it. But it was a good day and it was a lot of fun.

Saturday 6/21: Today went and did what we call "OYM" which is just "open your mouth" and so we walked and found a guy looking for his cat that he had lost and he was nice. We then went walking around and ran into him again and had a conversation with him and found out he was Pagonist which is like something I've never heard about but anything we tried to explain about the gospel he would take out of context and flip around so it was kind of a waste lol.

Sunday 6/22: We did stop bys before church and found someone who was atheist and told us he "had some books for us to read" because he does not like the church. And I thought he was getting a little more mad at us than I think he should've but we then went to his neighbors house who is a very smart guy and talked with us for about an hour about how God has changed his life and loves talking about it.

Monday 6/23 today we had district council which is supposed to be an hour and a half and our meeting went for like 3 hours and it was brutal sitting there ngl. We did serve for our friend penny and moved a rug and some furniture for her and she was very nice and kind to us so that was worth it. And then we had dinner at a members house who is from bountiful so that was something we were able to talk about and I thought was cool.

This week was a solid 7.5/10

Also shootout Elder harper for the spaghetti this week.

Feel free to email me back! I would love to talk to all of you!!

23 hours of daylight ?! - Jack's weekly Email from Alaska

Well as you can tell by the title of this email I have made it to Alaska and it is a lot different than what I thought it was going to look like that's for sure. But my first week in the field was good and bad ngl some struggles for sure but just trying to do my best.

Sunday- Today was the last Sunday in the mtc and last "Go and Do" experience which I'm not too sad about leaving behind lol. But it was good it was kind of sad to realize that our district only had 1 more full day together because I love them they are so awesome and I already miss them so much.

Monday- Today was the last full day of class with my district and it was important just to enjoy it because of how much I hated 3 hour classes they were honestly so fun to have with my district. I definitely had the best mtc teachers before so sister klemann, and Brother Thompson were awesome for me, the night class was the last time we were going to be together so we all shared our testimonies and it was so sad but the spirit was so strong in there you could feel it so strong it was crazy.

Tuesday- Today was when everyone had either left or was leaving before we had class so we all hungout before saying bye and me and my comp were the only ones that left on Wednesday everyone else left Monday or Tuesday. So we combined with like 2 other districts who had the same problem as us that day for class. But we checked in our bags and sang in choir that night and had a devotional which was awesome.

Wednesday- I had to wake up at 3:30 in the morning to get to the airport and it was good to have real food again and not mtc food. But we had a layover in Seattle and from Seattle went to Anchorage. On the plane flight I had a kid who had been like kicked out of his house or something like that who was bashing me on the plane for being a missionary for like the whole 3 hour ride and I was just telling him I wasn't trying to argue. But I ended up seeing Lincoln Hodbe from high school here which was so sick.

Thursday- we stayed in a hotel overnight and the beds were so comfy and then we had orientation and games and then I flew out to north pole to see My trainer and a couple of the elders took me to taco bell which was cool cuz some people came to make fun of us for being missionaries and then we ended up teaching them and giving them a book of mormon which I guess you can say I brought the spirit.

Friday- first day knocking doors which was scary ngl. I got yelled a ton and had like a 12 year old kid act like he was gonna beat me up which scared me so bad for some reason but some of the areas in north pole are pretty sketch so that doesn't help.

Saturday- pretty much just tried to find people on Saturday and then after that we had a member meal that night which was so good and worth it. Our apartment is like 1000 degrees so the members gave us a swamp cooler so that was life changing.

Sunday- just church same old same old and meeting a lot of the members that are in my ward.

Monday- weekly planning and some meetings. Also my comp locked us out of the apartment so we were late to the meetings which probably wasn't a good first impression.

But anyway this week was like a 6/10 so hopefully it gets better.

Anyways I'd love to hear from all of you so please feel free to reach out to me that would be awesome!

This is what all the roads look like

Member gave them those chicken legs and he said they were fire.

Blood Donation

I decided to go to the NSL blood drive.  After I donated at the Delta Center last time, I got an email to sign up again.  Ok I can do that.  It was super slick and I fetl bad because it wasn't super crowded.  It was during the day so probably most people were at work.

I was playing golf at Mick Riley and decided to take a selfie to send to Mark. I like to take a pic and send to him and ask him if he can guess where this is.  A guy driving by said hey, I'll take your pic you don't want a selfie.  So here I am.  I'm usualy against pics but how did I say no to that nice guy.

I thoght my selif was ok.

Played with Andrew at the El Monte in Ogden.  It was super hot.  Andrew walked cuz he is kindof a Rock Star

I love the El Monte. I took this photo and asked Abi where this is.  When she played for the high school, this was the greatest hole.  A Huge tree right in the middle of the fairway on the first hole.  She couldn't remember the name of this course.  Seriously.  It was our favorite

I got invited to play with Nick and Robert and the Bishop.  I was Jack.  The Bishop coldn't come so they invited me.  We went at 6:00 am.  I had to get up at 5:00.  It was super fun.  It was so beautiful and peaceful at that time of the day.  No one was behind us and just took our time.  I wished I played better but was fun to play with Nick and our back door neighbor Robert and his cousin.

That's Robert.  He lives behind us.

Got this pic from Jack.  Love this pic.  Nothing like a tired missionary

Arrival in Alaska

Jack left the MTC bright and early on Wednesday June 11.  I received the best email later that day.

He arrived safely in Alaska and was safe in orientation.

Sent this picture.  They sent it as a PDF so not sure how to upload it differently but here it is.

Then he called and we got to talk to him for a bit.  He said the flight was good and he sat next to a guy that asked him all about the church.  Dive right into missionary work...:)

He also said the rules weren't that bad.  Who would have thought...

This is a view from his first apartment.

Jack showing us how light it was at 9:00 at night.

Birthday in the mtc - Jack's Mission Email

Hello friends and family!! Another week in the mtc has flown by. Leaving for the mission field this week which is kind of crazy to me and a little scary. But anyways my birthday was this week so thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday.

Sunday 6/1: first Sunday in the mtc and it was good we have church and then a "go and do experience" which was kind of awful because it was fast Sunday so everyone was hungry and kept bringing up food and the studying we did for 3 hours that day felt never ending, but at the end of the day the devotional by the president of the mtc was so good to listen too.

Monday 6/2: today we woke up early and did service in one of the buildings which was fine but vacuuming for an hour at 6:45 in the morning is not my favorite thing to do. We helped welcome the senior missionaries on this day and it was pretty fun to see them and how excited and happy they are to serve.

Tuesday 6/3: we went to the field and played spikeball as a district and it was so fun and then we had class again.... and then we had a devotional that might by Brother shmitt of the 70 and his wife. It was so good and so powerful and how we need to as missionaries drop our "nets" and to not waste time as a missionary and there were a lot of good things said that I liked.

Wednesday 6/4: Today I gave my first ever blessing which honestly I was so nervous for but it went well and it is crazy how the spirit guided me even when I felt I didn't know what I was saying or going to say. We then helped serve in the cafeteria that might for dinner and it was honestly so fun and not as bad as I was expecting.

Thursday 5/5: today we went to the temple and did an endowment session and that was so good and worth missing a class for. Then we had class at night which was exhausting and everyone was tired for.

Friday 6/6: today was My birthday in the mtc which I never thought I was gonna be able to say. This senior missionary found out it was my birthday and sung happy birthday in the cafeteria which we weren't supposed to do but it was so funny. We then did a sealing session at the temple and I think our whole district fell asleep at least one time during the session and going to class that night we were all so exhausted and ready for it to be done.

This week was a 7/10 the mtc has been so fun and I love my district they are all so awesome!!

Quote of the week " Elder Chapman has truly changed my life..... Changed it for the absolute worst"
