I follow this group on fb about fitness.  They are always posting about Post Workout selfies (PWS)  Abi and I went to the gym and did some time on the treadmill.  My knee did okay, but hurts now and is swollen and did some sweating with the weights.

Stayed home

So, for the most part,  stayed home tonight.  Baseball was cancelled due to rain.  I went to the gym, and drove Andrew one place.  I got some wash done, the kitchen cleaned up, and really am a bit less stressed.  Its amazing how staying home some is fabulous.  I'm torn every night to about 30 different things.  Baseball, soccer, baseball practice, young womens, scouts (my church calling) and Nicks scouts.  Practice, Track, orchestra concerts, (that I have to attend or drive someone to...)  Happy to do all these things!!!  Love them so much.  They had better stay off drugs because I'm doing my best to keep them involved in good things.  I should keep them involved MORE in the scriptures.  We don't have time for Family Home Evening (well, we don't take time for it)  and we should probably stop all activities so we have time for Scritures, family Prayer and FHE.  I'll have to ponder that one.  Maybe we could have scripture study before school.........................

Abi Track and Field

Abi has been on the South Davis Track Team.  She was on the Track team last year and ran the mile.  This year she is a thrower. She is throwing the Discus, the shotput and the long jump.  She practices hard every day.  Today at the track meet, she threw the discus 67 feet 9 inches.  Wow.  She PR'd all her events today.  (personal record).  She was soo excited.  The shotput she threw 20 feet.  The last shot putter we had in our family was Melanie.  (that's Maureen's sister)  She threw shotput for like 3 years in high school.  She went to District and came in DEAD last.  She said 'Maureen, last, did you hear?  last.  Not second to last, but last"  She was soo funny about it.  Abi didn't even come close to last.  Although I think being last is better than not being there at all.  It is fun to go to the track meet to see all the kids I teach doing their best at track and working hard!  Abi should make it to south end.  She reminds us Mrs Trenchbol from Matilda that throws a shotput on the chain...hahah

Andrews Baseball

Andrew has been playing baseball this season.  He has been playing for the Diamond Backs or D Backs for short.  He has been playing first base.  So fun to see him on first base.  His last game they were behind.  It was the last inning.  They had two outs.  The worst batter was up.  He closed his eyes and swung the bat and got a hit.  He got on first.  The ball was overthrown and he ran to second.  The third base runner, came in to score.  Then Andrew was up to bat. Andrew got to second base and the kid on second, came into score!!  Andrew came in a few batters later.  The other team had last ups, and they couldn't make a run and Andrew team won!  So fun to watch these big boys play.  They are soo good.  They play under the lights and tomorrow's game is at 9:00 at night. We don't get home til after 11:00!  Andrew did get a new bat, a new bag, new batting gloves AND a helmet.  He said he thought it was cool because he was 'that kid' with all the matching stuff.  So glad he could finally feel that way.

A Good Son

Andrew every Wednesday walks down from school and mows his Grandparents' lawn.  He then takes out their garbage can to the curb and hauls in the 40 lb salt bags for the water softner from the car and take it to the basement.  He also does any other tasks that they have for him.  He is so willing to help them.  Really.  He also was in the talent show at school.  I don't have any pics of him because he didn't tell me when the talent show was.  He did a yo yo routine to an Imagine Dragon song.  I will have to find a pic of him doing the yo yo at a different time.   So, his friend Will, was dared to do the 'truffle shuffle' right before Andrew was to perform.  The Truffle Shuffle, is where you pull up your shirt and giggle your fat gut everywhere.  So this kid truffled shuffled across the stage.  He was suspended and gone home BEFORE the assembly was finished.  Junior High kids....here is a link to the original truffle shuffle from the Goonies movie.
Soo funny.

Arthritis

I have been having trouble with my knee.  Its my left knee.  I really thought it was just because I'm old and fat. It has been bothering me since we ran that 5K in November...So, I went to this sports medicine dr  (okay so don't laugh...me at a sports medicine doc). he was super nice.  Took an X ray and said it is arthritis.  WHAT???  arthritis.  I thought for sure he would drain the swelling and then just give me a cortisone shot and some ibuprofen...I did get the cortisone, but also the speech about wearing away of the cartiliage, bone spurs, blah blah.  can't remember the rest.  If it doesn't get better, I could get an injection of lubrication or maybe have to have the knee scoped.  NOT sure if I'm up to having surgery.  I really hate surgery and anesthetic and coming out of it  But I really wanted to do my 5K running program and it has hurt so I haven't been doing it since going to the dr.  So, I did get a cortisone shot.  felt SOOO much better.  Really.  Thought maybe that would be a cure for me.

But tonight it I hurting again.  I find myself taking ibuprofen and staying off of it.  I hope I don't have to go back to see what the next step is.  I know its related to being old and fat.  More stress on the joints when you are fat.  Hard to lose weight if you don't exercise and hard to maintain any kind of weight loss with no exercise. . .

Journal Writing

I follow this blogger who I love.  He is soo funny and witty and spiritual. Love those three combinations in a person...So he said this today.

“Those who do not keep journals will be defined by those who do.”

The link to his original post is here.  Fabulous entry about Journals.  So I have thought maybe this blog is about Journal writing.  I tend to just focus on the happenings about our family.  I need to rethink how to blog.
