State Golf

For the first time since Abi started golf,Woods Cross made it to the State Tournament.  As a team, you have to finish in the top 4 teams in your region.  WX finished in third place in the region so they were in the State Tournament.  One could also qualify by finishing in the top 10 scores individually in their region... Abi finished in 9th place so she qualified herself for the State Golf.  WOW!

It was at Glenmoor golf course in South Jordan.  Her Tee time was 9:40.  We got there around 8:30 of course.  Nick decided he likes to come with me so he did.  We got a cart when originally they said they were not allowing carts...it was 25.00...I didn't want to walk to save that money.  Plus I would have to carry my drink all that way.   Once Nick came he decided it was fun and , he ended up coming to the rest of the matches.  He was probably just in it for the drink, and then the drink refill and snack refill when we came by the clubhouse.

Getting ready for the Tournament

This was the first shot of the day off the #10 hole.

Getting some coaching from Dave her coach before the match begins

So first day she ended up with 98.  They were soo sure they were not coming back for a second day that no one planned on day two. However, they did qualify for day two.  Abi shot a 95 on day two.

Here are the overall results.  Woods Cross finished 6th both days which is such an improvement from last year where we didn't even make it to state.  There were 17 schools to start with and we took 6th.  Notice at WX scores, Abi and Talia were the only two to have their scores count both days of the tournament.

We also finished off with Cafe Rio again to celebrate!  It has been super fun to watch and follow Abi  I am going to miss it.  It was fun to watch how much she improved and especially to take the day off work and drive around the golf course.  I had a day off every week for the last 4 weeks!  way more fun than going to work.  Plus I got to see a bunch of new courses that I probably would never play.

nick coming along for the fun

Sad to see it over. But what a great ending!
