Gentry Concert

Part of our Hale season pkg, we had the option to purchase tickets to see Gentry.  Gentry is a gentleman's trio that formed at Hale 10 years ago so they were back for their 10 year anniversary concert.  Of course we had to go.

Michelle, Marti and I took a tour of the Hale Center Theater a few weeks ago, so we got a sneak peak at their set. It was beautiful.

This isn't from the concert but they were advertising their Christmas Concert.

They sang for about 2.5 hours which seemed a long time for a concert.

This is their order of the show. We got this picture backstage on our tour...:)
They mostly followed it.

Maureen and Marti

These are horrible of us.  Marti had to go to the bathroom. He smuggled a drink in from Pei Wei where we had dinner...so he had to leave during intermission

Marlena was mad she wasn't in the photo so we had to add her
Fun fact, the guy on the other side of Marlena was a guy on our Hale Tour.  He was old, and fat, and a pain in the tour. He commented all the time and drove us crazy.  Funny he was sitting by Marlena.  She had a great time talking to him.  He was wearing the SAME exact set of clothes.  :)

Great night of music and dinner and fun.

Ton goes to the Rose Park

Tuesday is the Day Brooke comes out and visits Grandma and Andrew.  They went over to the Rose Park golf course.  I have to work now so I didn't go.  Love that the Ton loves to golf.  :)  It is kindof a new thing to bring your dog to play golf.  I don't mind it at some courses.

After school I did get to golf at the El Monte.  I love the El Monte. This tree in the middle of the first hole is the best.  I remember when Abi played golf, that tree was so unique to El Monte.

Tom and Kent

The women play together usually

Sandra is walking and I'm in the cart of course

Putting, such great style...:(

Delta High School 70th Class Reunion

Marlena, Michelle and Maureen went to Delta for Marlena's 70th High School Reunion.  Yes 70 years.  She is 88 and there was about 18 people from her class.  They had 46 of them die since the last reunion.  My high school reunion is this year, and there is NOT a chance I would go.

Michelle and I dropped her off, then we went on a drive to the Gunnison Reservoir.  We got a great quesadilla too.  We were going to golf at the Delta Golf Course but decided we didn't have enough time for that.

We picked Marlena up and then headed to the Cemetery.  We went to my Grandma Stella and Grandpa Fon's grave that is in Oasis a suburb of Delta.  We haven't been there for a while.

Michelle cleaning the grave.  The sprinklers were on, so she had to be fast.  Someone put flags on the grave and they fell down.  She was fixing them.

Elpha is my Grandma's sister.  She had some disability and they sent her to live at the Utah State Mental Hospital.  They didn't talk about her, and my mother never knew she existed until she was in College.   That is super sad.

My Mothers' grand parents.  My Grandma Stella was dropped off in Hinckley to live with her parents with her three children.  One of them was Marlena and Bob and Dale.  Then their dad drove away.  He had a girlfriend I think.  Anyway, my mother found a letter that Hyrum wrote to the State Mental Hospital saying that they would keep sending payments for Elpha but it was going to be difficult because their daughter and three children just came to live with them.  Wow.  So sad.  My Mother had no idea it was a difficult situation for them to raise their grand children.  AND so sad Elpha had to go away and live alone in the hospital.

Grandma Stella and Grandpa Fon.

Miss them every day.

3 months! - Jack's email from Alaska

Hello Family and friends!! Today I hit 3 months as a missionary. So crazy!! But this week was lit. Let's get into it !!!!

Friday 7/15: P day today, we did a huge slip n slide and it was like 40 degrees so I was actually so cold after but it was so worth it, it was so fun actually. Then we hosted some other missionaries at our apartment because we were flying out the next say to Anchorage.

Saturday 7/16: ELDER BEDNAR. Wow that was the coolest experience I've ever had. He was so spiritual and was so cool to just have an apostle within 5 feet of me. It was the best experience I've ever had. It felt like he literally knew everyone personally and it was just so unreal. It was so worth having to wake up at 3 in the morning and not get back to north pole til midnight.

Sunday 7/17: casual Sunday of 5 hours of church. It was long and I was pretty tired but we got through it so yay. We had dinner at the cliffords so that was pretty fire. Best filet mignons ive ever had.

Monday 7/18: yesterday was a lot of planning and district council. We then went and did some stop bys and had some success running into some inactive members. Dinner with the Taylor's which was pretty fire.

That's pretty much the end of this week but it was good!

Anyway my Summer Lacrosse coach Jonah Warnick called me out for not putting my testimony or a spiritual thought at the end of my emails so I'm gonna start doing that.

So something Elder Bednar said was that a lot of times as we are praying we pray for things to happen and expect them to just magically appear into our lives, but the thing is that's not faith. We need to act on the promptings we have from the spirit and that is truly when we are testing our faith and letting the spirit guide us throughout our lives.

Great week! Would love to hear back from you all!

Jack sent this video of him trying to NOT punch his comp.

Nick said if he takes requests you could suggest Joseph.  :)

Measured for a coffin? - Jack's email from Alaska

Well today is p day which is weird cus it is Friday today. So thats cool. Our p day is Friday this week because we have Elder Bednar coming to the mission and having a conference with all of the missionaries here. So we all get to go to that in Anchorage so I get to wake up at a bright and early 4 am tomorrow to get to the airport at 5 am for a flight.

But something funny that happened this week was I got my coffin measured. Which basically you get to lay on the ground they try measuring you got a "coffin" they lift your leg up and dump water down your pants and I had ice cubes in mine so it was funny.

We went on 2 exchanges this week and it was pretty fun I went with Elder Bingham and it was fun! We did some service for this guy who lives in a trailer and basically cleaned up most of his backyard. Then we went on another exchange yesterday and had 3 lessons which the ZLs made me lead so that was scary. But I did it and I think i did good hahaha.

Anyways that was pretty much my week and it was good! Please email me back I'd love to hear from you all!!

This week from Alaska

We didn't get an email from jack this week, but we did get these pictures

He went fishing and now loves Salmon.  Red Salmon.  He also likes Crab that he had last week.

He sent this video...And couldn't believe I knew what was happening.  He was being measured for a coffin.  It isn't like I haven't done that before.  :)

Jack got these in the mail I think.  He asked me if I sent them.  Nope.  I don't know how to send spiritual stuff.  Just Diet Coke is all I know how to send.

He said that Diet Coke helps him be spiritual.  Who doesn't know that.

Speaking of spiritual, I saw this today.   Why haven't I make these?  I wish we talked about Joseph and I could make them in Primary!  Soo easy and Cute.

Second Place in the scramble

Michelle and I showed up at Mulligans (golf course) one Tuesday morning.  We were starting our summer golf.  This is after Michelle retired at the end of June.  We were in line to golf, and a lady came over and invited us to join the Ladies League.  So we did.

We golfed every Tuesday for about 5 times, then it was tournament time.  We played a scramble.  We teed off the white tees instead of the yellow.  They were further back and so we get more playing in if we go off white.  We placed early because it isn't so hot and finished before the ladies started.  We turned in a 40 and went to lunch.

Two days later, we were taking a tour of Hale and we receive this text

We took second place.  Holy cow.  We couldn't remember what par was, so we drove over and got a scorecard.  Par was 33.  That meant that the first place team scored a 32, then we were next with a 40.  Who would have thought that we were second.  That is a big gap between first and second.

AND since I had to go back to school, Michelle picked up our prizes

.
She's kind of busy today with the Brooks man.  His mother had to go back to work today too.  She's a Speech Person for the School District.

Guess she found the time.

HERE they are!

So cute.  What a nice gift.

I can't play anymore in the league but I hope Michelle will go for the last few times.  She's pretty good.

And I'm sure we will play next summer.
