Church Basketball has begun

Nick heard Church Basketball was happening and they were short players.  He drove from Logan to make the 7:00 am game.  Andrew had something else to do that day so he couldn't go.

Nick took a lot of shots, but didn't make any.  Well, maybe one.  But the other team didn't have enough players so we won by default.

Look at these action shots

Most people have their wives there to watch and Nick and his mother.  Josh, his bff at basketball says he thinks its fun that his mom comes to watch and he wishes his wife would come...I'm sure he wants his mother to come too

Might need a bigger shirt for next week...:)

Zone conference frfr - Jack's Email from Alaska

Yo yo yo what upp everyone. Ain't gonna cap this week was hecka buns but it's all good. I hope all of you guys are well and having an awesome Utah winter. It did end up raining again this week so the roads are all iced over. Go Alaska frfr. But let's get into this week.

Wednesday 1/21: my comp lost his card that you get givin from the mission so we tried finding that and ended up not finding it. We did a whole lot of stop bys today just contacting people. We had dinner at this pretty fire families house so that was good. Then we got told that our part member family wants there daughter baptized!! So that was epic to hear.

Thursday 1/22: we got a call from a friend we dropped and he wanted to have a lesson with us. This guy is like Baptist and also the chillest dude ever. He brought up church history with race and i didn't even know what to say in the moment to be honest. But it was a good lesson we gave him a bom to read again. We did some weekly planning and then went to activities and that was super fun.

Friday 1/23: zone conference today so that was epic. Got to see a lot of my boys from the mtc so that was a cool reunion. We did a lot of practices together and found ways to find more people. We had dinner with this Australian family and they gave us so much good food it was worth it.

Saturday 1/24: pretty much our whole week of success was determined on today and just like usual, everyone cancelled. Pretty sad to see we had fellowship lined up for them all and everything. But that's alright got to look forward and keep my head up.

Sunday 1/25: we had church in the morning so that was cool. We went home and had a ward meeting over zoom. We did some more studies since I'm training so we do an extra hour a day. We then had dinner at the kiddles and that was sum buss buss food won't cap.

Spiritual thought:

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Pretty chill week despite all the opposition. Email me! Would love to hear from you guys!!

Ice storm? - Jack's email from Alaska

Yo everyone! This week was actually pretty cool not gonna lie. We had not a Ton of success but the lessons we were able to have were really powerful and awesome. It snowed here for like a week straight last week and then it rained so all the roads are like just ice so we just got to hope for the best when driving haha. But let's get into the week.

Tuesday 1/13: we had district council today so that was hecka cool. We always have fun at district council. Did a little bit of stop bys at the end of the day and had dinner at a fire couples house who have served missions so that was cool.

Wednesday 1/14: Today we had to give a blessing to someone after service. So we did some service and Gave the lady a blessing. We also ended up shoveling some snow for this lady today. We had dinner with this fire family so that was awesome.

Thursday 1/15: we did some early morning basketball and that was fun. We then did weekly planning today so it felt like we were calling and texting for just hours. We then helped this lady with shoveling and she was yapping oh my some people jus need to stop talking every once in awhile. But we had a lesson with the other missionaries and then we had dinner at this families house who is lit. We then went to an inactives house to share a message but the dad kinda shut us down when we asked about them not coming to church.

Friday 1/16: today I went on an exchange with one of the zls. I went into their area for the day which was honestly so fun. We did a lot of contacts and this was the day the ice was insane. So we had to slide down a driveway legit. But it was a hecka fun day.

Saturday 1/17: I was on another exchange with the DL and he came into our area. So we actually had a ton of lessons today and some fell through sadly. But we had one with this couple and they kinda bashed us? But like also not really just because they are so nice. We had a dinner but it wasn't very good dinner for the most part.

Sunday 1/18: we had only 1 hour of church due to septic lines being frozen so that was not good at all. We came home after talking with the members and had the biggest headache of my life. We had dinner at this older couples house but they never make bad food so I wasn't worried and it was fireeeee.

Monday 1/19: we had interviews with president so that was awesome. We had to give blessings to the sister missionaries today too. We went tracting for the first time in awhile too. We then had a fire biscuits and gravy dinner. Pretty good day.

2 Nephi 25:23:

23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do

Rose Park on Martin Luther Day

It has been crazy warm around here.  The Golf courses are open in January.  I golfed on Davis on Jan 18 and Martin Luther day we golfed at Rose Park.  I joined Andrew and Easton.

Brooke decided to join us and walk with the Ton. Rose Park and a few others, allows dogs on the course.

Brooke took all these pictures of us.

That is me with the push cart.  I walked the course.   Thanks to Andrew's push cart.  I don't usually walk, but it was so beautiful today that we decided all would walk.  Andrew has a great stool on his push cart that was soo great.  I need to get one.  Mark likes it too.

We played great and can't wait to go back.  Winter golf is so much better than Summer when it is blazing hot.  Love it.

Living Room Addition

I came home and found this nice pic in my living room.  I really couldn't figure out what it was or where it came from.  Andrew knew and said it came from Ty.

I think our book club should be at Chili's next.

Donating Blood - taking after Grandpa

I called Andrew today and he had to get a hair cut, then donate blood.  Where are you donating?   He says, "oh between Bountiful and Centerville at 3:00 ".  I also had an appt to donate blood at 5:00 somewhere between Bountiful and Centerville.  We both booked the donation for the same day at the same place.

Holy cow, I was trying to be discrete for taking a pic. I have my good Boston shirt on.  I have a weird neck thing going on..

Both of these are bad

Here we are with our bandages on.  It wasn't very crowded which makes me feel bad because we need Blood.
I try to donate blood, because my dad ALWAYS donated. I asked him why, and he said "it is a good thing to do".  So I do it too.  I have slacked off the last few years, because it just takes so long.  Now it is easier and faster and I have more time to wait.  It took about 40 minutes from start to finish.  I scheduled again in May.  I will probably look for a closer one after March when I'm eligible to donate again.

1200 in 2025 and some new chairs for Marlena

Total for the 2025 year for decluttering is 1200 items.  Didn't even come close to the full amount.  However, once again, it is 1200 LESS items than if I didn't throw them away.

Headed to Brigham City for the Bingo night at the Eagle's Lodge
Went with some of my besties, Kim and Sandra.  We didn't win Bingo, but we did win a few things at the raffle.  Really, it is losing at the Raffle.  It is just one more thing I have to get rid of but I could cross it off my chart.  I won a manicure set.  I think the raffle things are just what the Eagle members clean out of their house.  We have thought of bringing it back and putting them on the table for the next raffle.  .  .

Over at Marlena's and found this trophy.  Now I have record of my dad's hole in one at Mountain Dell.
Who would have thought Mark would be there to witness.  Mark said it was a glorious day when I asked him about it.  I have played that hole many times.  He rocks.  Mark can have this trophy when Marlena dies.

AND we got some new furniture for Marlena.  Here is her new Recliner from RC Willey.  Michelle and I picked it out.  Her other one was 10 years old. It was time for a new one.

This chair is my favorite.  We replaced the chair my dad sat in for years.  Look at this. It even reclines so no one has to be uncomfortable when they are visiting.

Here we are testing them out.  It is like buying some new shoes.   They feel so good and you should have gotten them a few years ago.

.Here is a front view.  We have changed out the ottoman for a table for putting her things.  Looks so much better
Here is a pic grandma sent to Mark.  His comment was if we have all those chairs, why is Grandma sitting at the table.?  so true. WE have to get rid of TWO still.

First week of the new transfer - Jack's email from Alaska

Yo yo yo yo yo what is up everyoneeeeee! This was a chaotic week to say the less I'm not gonna lie. I had to go to Anchorage and do a ton of meetings and stuff, but for only being in my area for 3 days this week we got a ton of stuff done! Let's get into the week!!!

Thursday 1/7: we dropped Elder Anderson off at the airport at 4 AM!! I miss him so much already he was so fun to be around! We then had to go to the new missionary orientation where I picked up my greenie. We did a ton of that stuff and then we went to cane's and headed back to palmer. We had a meal with brother Pickens which was fya. We then pranked the new guy by having him get into a bash with the other missionaries by us hahaha.

Friday 1/8: we had weekly planning today and this was the first full day I had been in the area all week. We planned a ton of lessons and did a lot of phone calls and texts. We had to go shopping so my guy has some food. Then we did some contacting and he crushed it!

Saturday 1/9: we stopped by one of our friends who we haven't gotten in contact with at all. We had a lesson with him an hour later so shoutout wess! We then had a lesson with our friend Tammy at night. We talked about baptism and she wants to get baptized! She doesn't know if she is ready yet, but still go Tammy! Her husband my opp tho ain't gonna lie. He wants her to be taught by sisters but apparently the ward said he has always requested sisters and having children around him and stuff. What a weirdo, so we don't exactly know what to do.

Sunday 1/10: good ol church today won't lie. We chatted it up wit all the members and they are so fire. We did our studies after church. We then texted a ton of more people, then we had dinner at a fire members house and they are so lit. We then had a zoom call with our mission president to end the night!

Spiritual thought:

Helaman 5:12

12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

Love u all email me!!

Jack and The Mission Leader

I received this picture of Jack and his companion (I think) from the mission Leaders.

It came with this note.  I'm sure they send this to all the missionaries they have dinner with.  But they didn't have to send it.  So nice to see Jack and hear a compliment.
