Zone Leader and a nice note

Received this letter from the Anchorage Mission.  Not sure what a Zone Leader does, but it sounds important...)

22 June 2026

Dear Elder Jack Michael Clemons,

Thank you for accepting the assignment to serve as a Zone Leader. You will have the responsibility to inspire and motivate those missionaries laboring with love, example, following all the Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ. You will be directly accountable to the Assistants to the President and the Mission President.

It is important that you live your life and conduct yourself in such a way that the Spirit of the Lord will always be with you. Be enthusiastic, humble, and sincere. Be sure to live all mission rules and be an example to the missionaries in your Zone. All eyes will be on you and how you lead.

As a Zone Leader it will be important to focus on the following areas of responsibility:

  • Lead the zone in mission matters as directed by the AP's, Mission President and his companion.
  • Set an example for the missionaries in your Zone through your study of PMG 2.0, chapter 8, other aspects of missionary work.
  • Carry a full proselyting load in your assigned area; and work with faith and diligence to accomplish your proselyting purpose. See Preach My Gospel 2.0, chapter 1.
  • Lead by example and love to inspire the missionaries in your Zone. You serve them the same way you strive to serve your friends-by strengthening their faith in Jesus Christ and inviting them to repent and keep their commitments so that they will enjoy the companionship of the Holy Ghost.
  • Teach the missionaries in your Zone through companion exchanges primarily with District Leaders (see Missionary Standards, 2.3.1), visits to District meetings and presentations in Zone Conference.
  • Interview baptismal candidates taught by your District Leaders (see Missionary Standards, 2.3.6).
  • Look after the well-being of the Elders in your Zone. Please set the example and make sure relationships between elders and sisters are in harmony with gospel teachings and missionary standards.

As a Zone Leader you become the official representative of the mission in the Stake Missionary Correlation Meetings held in your zone. It is important that you understand mission policies and procedures as outlined in Missionary Standards and doctrine and principles of Preach My Gospel 2.0. Lead out as by setting the example for all to follow. Seek counsel and direction from the Lord, the Assistants to the President and Mission President as necessary. We love you and look forward to serving with you.

With love and gratitude,

James B. Ledesma - Mission President

Alaska Anchorage Mission

A few days ago, I received this nice note from Jacks mission

They also included a nice pic of Jesus

Such a nice note.  Not sure why I received it, if it was his turn for his parents to receive this note.  But super nice and not expected.  Made my whole day.

48 Days of Summer Vacation left

Played at Mulligan's for our Ladies league.  We scored one of our best rounds.  We did so well, we played twice.  Then on to Maria's for lunch and some mexican food.

We have been working on our yards. We still have this weed in our grass we can't get rid of.

Look how great this grass looks?  It is an improvement to last year or last week

Back yard

Abi and Brody went to Buc Cee's in Arizona near her house.  Cant wait to go there when I visit next time

That evening I played at Bonneville.  Love the Bonneville.

Carted with Kim.

Love my Haribo Snakes

Here's my reading list for the summer.  These are all book club books I never read during the year.  Tina said she loved all of them  So can't wait to catch up.  Reading Book Lovers right now.

Father's Day

Love a good Father's day.  Brooke said this sweater was ok to wear.  It has a green skirt on and is super cute.

After church, I watched the US open golf Tournament.  I used this blanket that was made from all my dads shirts.  Thought it was appropriate

Got home and Andrew had put together this bike for me that I bought during Covid 6 years ago at the Costco.

Found this note on it.  I soo appreciate it.  Love it.

Then Monday we headed to Grandma's house so Brooke and Andrew could do help her and do her shopping.  I went for the lunch.

I get there and here are the posters they put up for me.  They celebrate Father's day for me because I'm the Mother and the Father.

These treats were on the table. ALL my favorites.  Love that they think of me.  There was also a note for TerraLynne.  Brooke and I are going next Monday.

And a huge bag of JUST twin snakes!

Ton and Andrew under the chairs.  We ate in the living room because Nick broke the chair in the kitchen when Brooke was helping him buy a plane ticket.
Got the Jersey Mikes today.

Ty and Nick joined for lunch too.  Nick was leaving for Golf in a few minutes.  I hope he doesn't die because it's so hot out there.

Grandma had a Salted Nut Roll that I brought a week ago.  My dad LOVED Salted Nut Rolls.  Me too.

Transfers and all that - Jack's email from Alaska

Hey everyone! This was another really good week. If you read my email last week, my comp and I were pretty much babysitting another elder. We had got rid of him on wednesday which was pretty good for us. We were not nearly as stressed as we were last week with him haha. Anyways this week was transfer week. We got news and I will be transferring to the fairbanks ysa and 2nd ward. Double covering, I was also assigned as a zone leader so that should be good. I am going to miss elder horne so much he is like a brother to me. We been through highs and lows and he has helped me in so many ways. But let's get into the highlights of this week.

Highlights:
- I gave a father's day talk and the mission president showed up to it

- Tyler is still working with us even tho we have some bumps in the road

- we had little time to go finding but still somehow found people this week.

Low lights:

- said bye to the members of the girdwood branch, I'll miss that branch a lot

- gonna miss my awesome companion

Anyways thats pretty much it from me. It was a good week and i have just loved the area I've been in

Spiritual thought: Matthew 14
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

I like this because Peter only sunk because he lost his faith and got scared. Sometimes we are nervous or afraid because we are lacking faith. Faith is what leads to miracles.

Then I got this.  They are on their way.

Pearl Harbor - So fun and learned a lot.  The best combo

They are back home safe and sound.  Had a great time.  Always glad when everyone is home.

50 more days of Summer Vacation

Saturday started the day early at Eaglewood Golf Course.  It was a bit windy but beautiful.

Always think of Jack and Eaglewood becaue he worked there after High School.  Hopefully he can work there again when he gets off his mission.  I had to rake the sand traps this time.  I didn't rake when he worked there.  He could do it...

Course was in really great condition.

Hitting the ball OVER the group on front of us and landing on the green.  Lucky they didn't come after him for hitting into them.  Well over them..

After golf, we went to Taco Amigo for Strawberry shakes.  Decided to get food too.  Taco Amigo reminds me of Mark and my dad too.  After my dad's funeral, on our way back from Spanish Fork, we stopped at Taco Amigo to get a strawberry shake.  No one was ready to go home yet.  They are the best strawberry shakes I have had.  Not sure they are worth 7.50 though.

After Taco Amigo we ventured to the Farmer's Market in Provo.  Farmers Markets are hit or miss.  I didn't buy anything.  I Like to buy stuff that isn't fruits or vegetables..I'm not going to carry watermelon or a dozen ears of corn around. I like jewelery or decorations or lotions.  But I didn't see any.  It was fun to just walk around and see the stuff people try to sell and wonder if they make any money.

On the way home, we decided to stop off and see a movie.  We went to Toy Story 5.  It opened the day before.  It was super cute and fun to see.

Then that night, I went to Red Lobster with my BFF Lynne to celebrate Fathers day.  We celebrated our dads.  Both of our dads are dead.  Our friend Jen couldn't go but her dad is dead too.  She said next time we could celebrate her dad Dave.  :)
