Summer Sunday Night Concerts

Layton has free Summer Concerts on Sunday Night.  We have been going since last year.  They are usually pretty good...but it is fun to go have a concert outside.  We went to Code Blue on Sunday.  They were a Rock and Roll band and played lots of stuff that I knew.  Nick not so much.  But I realy liked them. 

Nick was a good sport going with me.  I have on my Dixie State T Shirt I got at Orientation.  Parents got a shirt too. 

Nick didn't want his picture taken.  I don't either but I do like to document that we did something sometimes.

Some of the concerts have been better than others, but it is fun to see people or groups that you didn't even know existed.  Going to miss them on Sunday Nights.

Zoo Keeper In Training

Brooke has wanted to be a Zoo Keeper for quite some time.  She has been working at Utah's Hogle Zoo for 3 years.  Funny, that I got an email one day that they were hiring for Summer help.  She applied and got it.  And three years later, she is on her way to Florida to Santa Fe Community College to get a degree in Animal Husbandry.  Which is being a zookeeper.  She did some research and decided Florida was the place to go.  It is AZA approved which is a big deal.  So, the time finally came and she is off.

Andrew came with us because he just got back from lake Powell with his BFF's family.  Nick also came but I didn't get any pics of him.  Hmmm

Here she is!!  Her first day of School!!  She has wanted this for a long time.  We checked it out in May to make sure it was the place to go.  She found a roommate on Craigs list and is now ready to go!

She does have one person missing her sooo much.  He works security at the Utah's Hogle Zoo in Utah.  Here's what he sent to her.  That is inside an animal exhibit...which has to be approved somewhere high up in the chain of command.

She also has to be able to lift 50 lbs without looking like it is straining you.  She has practiced with a bag of salt (since we have no need for pet food) every day.  I can't walk by salt at the store and look at it in the same way!

Dixie Thunderbird

Abi is going to school in St. George at Dixie State University.  Friday was move in day.  I had to go to school that day, but I conveniently got out of it to take Abi down.  We got up super early because her check in time was between 10 and 12.  We got there around 11.  She checked in, got her parking pass, and then we went to Wal Mart for Groceries. 

She has a roommate from American Fork...I think her name is Madison.  She did dodge a bullet because the week before, she got an email saying that one of the girls has a cat...Nope..can't live with a cat so she got changed.  Her new roommates seem super nice and no cats.

She had to be at some freshman activities starting at 2:00...so we didn't have much time...We dropped her off and we drove away.

Brooke came with us to keep me company on the way home. 

We hugged her and it was time to leave her.  She will do great!  She is smart, kind, funny and super motivated.  Can't wait to see where life takes her. 

Back to School 2018

Hard to believe that Summer is over.  I'm so sad to see Summer end.  I think my kids are ready to go back to seeing their friends but I am NOT ready to be a teacher again.

Nick is in 9th grade and Jack 7th Grade.  Both of them are at Mueller Park Junior High.  

I told Nick he had to take a pic of him before he went to school since no one would be there to take it.  This is what I got.  Those are his new shorts we picked out yesterday...nothing like waiting til the last minute for school.

Jack was up early...so I had time to get a pic of him.  Those are his new shoes from Grandma.

Andrew is at Southern Utah and hasn't had his first day of school yet.

This is me on my way to my first day of school.  First time in 22 years that i didn't have to take someone with me.  Yahoo!  Nick and Jack both take the bus to Mueller Park.  New found freedom for me that I also don't have to do pick up after school anymore.

Football 2018

Today was the opening of Football 2018!  Nick is the starting center.  He has some new very expensive cleats so that should up his game.  

I have been bad at taking pictures because I have a new minimalism attitude and who really needs all those pics anyway, but here is what I got today!  They lost of course, because they played Bingham and they are State champions like every year.  So, here's to next week!

blast from past

In my minimizing, I have cleaned out the garage...a few times.  I decided these file cabinets I have need to be slimmed down.  So much stuff that I don't need like old loan papers, college stuff, warranties and user manuals for stuff I don't even have anymore.  So, I cleaned out one.  It needs to go to the dumb or the DI.  It is super heavy because it is so old.  Anyway, I found this box of old photos...which I don't care about anymore.  Old college pictures of people I can't even remember their names or pictures or pictures of trips that I can't remember and were horrible.  Anyway, here are a few of what I kept.

I am on the right.  My friend Kim Stewart is on the left.  Laura is in the middle.  Don't know what happened to her. Not even sure her name is Laura.  I liked her though

This is my Friend Lynne.  She is my bestie.  This is probably 30 years ago.  We were up in Muelller Park taking pictures. 

This is my favorite pic.  I am on the right in Black.  That was a very expensive sweater and skirt.  Liz Claibourne is the brand we wore all the time.  Sure makes you look good!!  

We went on a back pack trip and Hiked Zion Narrows.  Here is Lynne.  It was one of my most fun experiences.  I will post a pic of me later.  I didn't even intend to put these pics here, I just sent them to her so didn't take any of me...but I have some.

Dentist visit

Highlights of my day is going to the Dentist.  Mark is the greatest dentist and soo funny.  Love to go.  I went to the Dentist for a Check and a Clean.  I got that and I also got a new crown.  A new crown isn't that bad...but I do have to go back again...

Andrew, Abi, and Brooke all went to the Dentist.  Abi went by herself, but Brooke and Andrew went together and I had to go with them.

Brooke has the best teeth of the Lewis Family.  Andrew had a cavity and Mark fixed the space between his teeth.  Andrew only has one wisdom tooth...Mark only sees that in people with special needs...Abi's wisdom teeth are not in yet.  No wisdom teeth extraction needed for a while.
