Marlena, Michelle and Maureen went to Delta for Marlena's 70th High School Reunion. Yes 70 years. She is 88 and there was about 18 people from her class. They had 46 of them die since the last reunion. My high school reunion is this year, and there is NOT a chance I would go.
Michelle and I dropped her off, then we went on a drive to the Gunnison Reservoir. We got a great quesadilla too. We were going to golf at the Delta Golf Course but decided we didn't have enough time for that.
We picked Marlena up and then headed to the Cemetery. We went to my Grandma Stella and Grandpa Fon's grave that is in Oasis a suburb of Delta. We haven't been there for a while.
Michelle cleaning the grave. The sprinklers were on, so she had to be fast. Someone put flags on the grave and they fell down. She was fixing them.
Elpha is my Grandma's sister. She had some disability and they sent her to live at the Utah State Mental Hospital. They didn't talk about her, and my mother never knew she existed until she was in College. That is super sad.
My Mothers' grand parents. My Grandma Stella was dropped off in Hinckley to live with her parents with her three children. One of them was Marlena and Bob and Dale. Then their dad drove away. He had a girlfriend I think. Anyway, my mother found a letter that Hyrum wrote to the State Mental Hospital saying that they would keep sending payments for Elpha but it was going to be difficult because their daughter and three children just came to live with them. Wow. So sad. My Mother had no idea it was a difficult situation for them to raise their grand children. AND so sad Elpha had to go away and live alone in the hospital.
Grandma Stella and Grandpa Fon.
Miss them every day.
